Our Objectives

We have 12 objectives that are in place across the whole students’ lifecycle. You can see which of our seven risks to equality of opportunity each group of objectives addresses.

    • Objective 1: Increase and then maintain the percentage of Asian students at UON.
    • Objective 2: Annually monitor the level of GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) access at UON and maintain it at over 25%.
    • Objective 3: Increase the proportion of students from socio-economically deprived backgrounds, measured using IMD Q1/2 home postcodes.
    • Objective 4: Reduce the access gap (31.6pp) between male (34.2%) and female (65.8%) students.

    • Objective 5: Reduce the GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) [65.2%]:White (71.5%) continuation gap (6.3pp)
    • Objective 6: Monitor the continuation gap (17.2pp) for students from socio-economically deprived backgrounds, measured using IMD Q1/2 home postcodes.IMD Q1/Q2 (59.9%) and IMD 3/4/5 (77.1%)
    • Objective 7: Reduce the male (55.8%) and female (76.2%) continuation gap  (20.4pp)
    • Objective 8: 90% continuation (82.6% 4 Year Average) at UON by 2028/29.

    • Objective 9: Reduce the White (78.3%) and GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) [53.4%) award gap (25pp).
    • Objective 10: Monitor the IMD Q1/Q2 (58.9%) and IMD 3/4/5 (73.4%) award gap (14.5pp).

    • Objective 11: Increase outcomes for Asian students (65.8%) to align with the rest of the GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) cohort (71.9%).
