Development approval
The University Leadership Team (ULT) has the responsibility, on behalf of Senate, for considering the principles, risk and resource implications and impact upon other areas of the University arising from new academic developments. ULT delegates this responsibility to the Student Recruitment and Planning Group (SRPG) which is chaired by the Director of Finance and Planning.
Academic Quality manages the Development Authorisation process.
The Development Authorisation Handbook describes the University’s processes by which Senate can be assured that additions and deletions to its academic portfolio have been planned and evaluated in relation both to the business and market case and strategic fit. This includes the approval of new course and new academic partnerships.
The Development Authorisation Handbook includes the Development Authorisation Form (DAF) pro forma for the following:
- New and changed courses
- Partnership development
- Suspension/Deletion
- Proposals for new Fields
- Proposal for changes to intakes
Following approval in principle of the business and market case proposals for new courses are progressed through the validation process, whilst new academic partners will undergo the Partnership Approval process.
Proposals for new academic collaborations in course delivery progress through stages of risk assessment and due diligence from initial conception to final approval.
For further guidance on the stages of risk assessment and due diligence preceding and following development approval please see the Partnership Handbook.
