Sustainability
Welcome to the University of Northampton Sustainability Hub. Here you will find information on the university’s environment and sustainability targets, plans, activities and policies. Annual targets are set each year to ensure we are on track to meet overall targets, such as Net Zero Carbon Scopes 1, 2 & 3 in line with the Government legislation target of 2050 with an ambition to do it within the next decade. Find out more about our performance so far in our UON Environment & Sustainability Report 2023/2024 (PDF, 4 MB) and our sustainability webpages.
In the spring, we began writing our new ‘Sustainability Strategy 2025-2030’ which we hope to release by winter 2025. The strategy is based around our four pillars:
- Our operations
- Our teaching and learning
- Our research
- Engagement for change
Each will demonstrate and contribute to our overall vision and be aligned with 3 to 4 high level objectives and actions.
Our annual Sustainability Survey’s data is used to drive new initiatives and improvements in our action plans surrounding energy, water, waste, travel, biodiversity and engagement. Feedback from staff and students is collated and responded to. For the latest survey results, please see the button below, and our Your Feedback Our Response report (PDF, 103KB).
