Accounting and Finance MSc
View the courseAfter completing my A-levels, I began my journey with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Based on my progress at the Applied Skills level, I was offered admission to a master’s degree programme at the University of Northampton. Coming from Pakistan, I chose UON because of its relevant curriculum, inclusive environment, and outstanding faculty.
My studies at UON are shaping my future in accounting and finance by encouraging practical learning. The course focuses on real-world business scenarios, including analysing annual reports and using financial databases to compare public companies, which has greatly enhanced my research and analytical skills. Additionally, working in groups has strengthened my soft skills, particularly in communication and leadership.
Throughout my academic journey, I’ve been an active and recognised member of the student community and I was honoured to be nominated for the Student Representative of the Year award by my programme leader. I also led a group assignment that earned the highest team score in the class. At the Business and Accounting Festival 2025, I won first prize in the poster competition, received a certificate of participation, and led the winning team in a business simulation contest. These achievements have given me not only leadership and teamwork experience, but also some of the most memorable moments of my student life, as an international student far from home.
To any undergraduates considering a similar path, my advice is to enjoy the journey. Go beyond studying and assignments – be proactive, participate, and take the initiative.
My experience at UON is truly becoming one of the most beautiful chapters of my student life.
